IP vs Analog CCTV: Which Is Better for Sri Lankan Homes?

When installing home CCTV in Sri Lanka, the core choice is IP or analog. Here is the difference in plain terms and which makes sense for most homes.

Analog (Turbo HD) cameras

Pros: Lower cost, widely available, easy to service anywhere in Sri Lanka, perfectly good image quality for a typical home, simple to expand.
Cons: Lower maximum resolution than high-end IP, footage quality caps out sooner.

IP (network) cameras

Pros: Higher resolution, sharper zoom-in detail, smarter features (motion zones, better night colour), flexible cabling.
Cons: Higher cost, needs proper network setup, and a badly configured IP camera can be a security risk if not hardened.

Which should a Sri Lankan home choose?

For most homes, a good-quality HD analog (Turbo HD) package gives excellent value and reliable coverage at a sensible price. Choose IP if you specifically need very high resolution for large areas, advanced analytics, or want the sharpest possible identification footage and have the budget for it.
